Summer 2021 at the winery

The whites of the 2020 vintage have been bottled, the reds soon. All in all, we can be very satisfied with the 2020 vintage: good in terms of volume, very good white wines and good red wines, maybe some top quality wines that will develop wonderfully in the bottle and become masterpieces in a few years‘ time.

In 2020, we focused not only on producing the best possible wines but also on finding new ways of getting them to our customers. The latter was the bigger problem. Restaurants and cellar-door sales, which account for the lion’s share of our business, were virtually non-starters during the lockdowns. But we were quick to respond with the launch of our own online store .

Pfitscher has a tradition of hospitality. Over the years, many visitors have become regular customers and often friends of Pfitscher. They all appreciate the opportunity to taste our wines in a relaxed setting and purchase them. It was a long-held desire and now it has become reality: the Pfitscher Wine Club . With the Club, we are opening our doors even wieder and inviting customers and friends to come a little closer – also via virtual world.

Due to the cancellation of all wine exhibitions and our trade event "Pfitscher & Friends" due to the pandemic, it was important to stay active. In addition to our two digital projects, online store and wine club, we launched two more: "Pfitscher Live Talk" and "PicNic by Pfitscher".

What happens when a young winemaker and one of the world’s best sommeliers meet for a live talk? You' re right: they talk, discuss and, of course, exchange ideas. The "Pfitscher Live Talk" with Daniel Pfitscher and Eros Teboni was a great success. Just like the many online events with our partners, it was a great way to share what's new in our Estate.

We are pleased to inform you that the first "PicNic by Pfitscher", which took place on our estate on June 12th, was very well attended. Guided tours, tastings, music and lots of nature attracted many visitors. This confirms the increasing interest in our family winery and was one more reason to stay and toast until late.
